Welcome to Ellicott City Patriots Cheer!

The Ellicott City Patriots Cheer Program thanks you for your interest.  In our program, we teach the fundamentals of cheer, proper techniques, jumps, stunts, cheers, chants, and voice projection.  Participants gain a sense of team spirit, improved self-esteem and a readiness for competition.  We offer a highly structured environment with an emphasis on safety.  Coaches choreograph a competition routine which all students learn and practice throughout the season in preparation for our Cheer Competition.  Family and friends are invited to attend all our events.  Our cheer camp and practice location is Hollifield Elementary School in Ellicott City, MD. We hope you'll join us this season!

What You Can Expect This Season:

  • Team building parties at every level during camp to facilitate positive relationship-building with teammates and enhanced communication between coaches, parents, and cheerleaders/poms.

  • Pre-season parent's informational meeting to be held the second hour of the first day of Camp while girls are fitted for uniforms/shoes, etc.  At this meeting, we will review goals for the season, discuss uniforms, expectations, and share other important information about the season.

  • Weekly communication about game times and other pertinent information necessary for planning.

  • Enhanced training for our volunteer coaches in safety during stunting, tumbling, leading cheers, and poms (dance choreography).

Guidelines

Ellicott City Patriots Cheer program was created for children who want to have fun and learn the sport of cheerleading. In order to ensure that this happens in a safe and friendly manner, we have established the following guidelines:

  • Cheerleaders will show respect for other members on the squad. This means no teasing, laughing or physically hurting any cheerleader.

  • Cheerleaders will show respect for all level Coaches, Team Administrators, Guest Coaches and other Adults. Mutual respect is key to a positive learning environment and necessary for our success as a program.

  • Cheerleaders will show respect for school property and the public areas that we use.  We always leave an area the same as, or better than we found it.

  • Cheerleaders always show up for practice on time and ready to work.  Appropriate footwear must be worn at all times to prevent injury.

  • Cheerleaders will act appropriately when interacting with opposing team members.  We will greet other teams as ambassadors of the Patriots Program, always demonstrating the highest degree of teamwork.  When you put on a uniform, you represent the Ellicott City Patriots Football/Cheer program and we are proud to have you on our squad. Show this pride when interacting with other teams. A positive attitude should be displayed at all times. Be modest when successful and gracious in defeat.

  • Cheerleaders are to be present at all scheduled games and practices.  If you cannot attend a scheduled practice or a game for any reason, it is your responsibility to contact the Coach assigned to your child well in advance of the practice or game so that appropriate planning, re-positioning, etc. may take place.

  • Cheerleaders must be at games at least 30 minutes early. This allows us to get you warmed up and prepared for the game. Cheerleaders may not eat or drink (except for water breaks) during the game. This is for your safety.

  • All disciplinary actions for breaches of our code of conduct will be decided by the coach. Should you not agree with the discipline, you may appeal to one of the Director of Cheer.

                                                                                                         GO PATRIOTS!

The EC Patriots  Recreational Cheer opens the same time as Fall Football and the squads perform at home football games at Blandair park in Columbia.  The recreational squads participate in an end of season Cheer competition versus other Mid Maryland Youth Football and Cheer squads.  They also compete in a National Annual Competition hosted at the Gaylord at National Harbor.

In 2015, the Patriot cheer program added a winter competition team, Patriots Elite.  In 2015 and 2016, Patriots Elite has competed in 2 national level competitions and earned 2nd place at both.

Patriot's cheer squads  have competed locally at various venues including The Gaylord at National Harbor.  All 4 squads have earned top spots in these competitions, including one Grand Champion win in 2014, and received bids to national level events.
